RAGBRAI® is coming to Ottumwa, and we are going to have a BLAST! Riders will find lots to do in Ottumwa on July 23rd. We hope to show our RAGBRAI guests a fantastic time with great food and tons of entertainment. We have a lot to offer. All of our musical performers are from the area, so you will get to hear some exceptional hometown talent.
Ottumwa's Central Park is being featured as a non-alcoholic performance venue with fun for all ages. Cool it in the shade listening to hometown band 'She Swings, She Sways'. The Ottumwa Municipal Band (established in 1865) will perform a concert and the Low'ly Brass, virtuoso players of the mightiest of horns, will delight listeners young and old alike. The theater at Ottumwa's Bridge View Center will open to all riders. This will be a great place to get into some air conditioning and set a spell. We will show some movies on the big screen and worldwide bicycle tourists Tim and Cindie Travis from DownTheRoad.Org will be telling tales of their adventures. Across the hall, the Bridge View professional chefs will be cooking up some simply incredible treats.
Ottumwa is home to The Beach Ottumwa, an outdoor water park with massive slides and a wave pool. On July 23rd, we'll be Rockin' & Rollin' at the Beach, with youth activities in the water park and outside in the parking lot. There will be a poolside dance, great food and a million gallons of fun!
The outdoor vendor/food court will be a real treat. There are at least four BBQ cookers coming (get napkins!) and a lot of other tasty delights too. Bring an appetite and a friend! Adjacent to the food court area, there will be a performance stage with a variety of local acts and music. Don't forget a camera because you'll be able to pose for your very own 'American Gothic' photo.
The Beverage Garden Main Stage will be in the parking lot at Ottumwa's Bridge View Center. The Beverage Garden will be opening at 4PM. Special surprises like a world-class laser light show are planned. The music line up is top-notch with hometown Indie/progressive artist Matthew Clay, vintage rock veterans 'Sez Who' and everyone's favorite party band 'Standing Hampton.'
But wait, there is more...additional entertainment is still being planned. There will be so much going on, that you simply will not be able to see, eat or do it all! Once the schedules get nailed down, we will post them here, and of course, riders will find all the listings in the Ottumwa RAGBRAI tabloid.
